CAPITAL DISTRICT KIWANIS FOUNDATION, INC.
The 193rd meeting of the Board of Directors of the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation was held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Williamsburg Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.
President H.L.Marks opened the meeting at 2:00 PM, Roy Sheets led the Pledge of Allegiance and Brian Bell gave the invocation. President Marks introduced International Counselor Dennis Oliver, Past CDKF presidents Hank Brodsky, Doc Thrush and Morris Long, New CDKF Director Bernice Oden, Dennis Grubbs and Gary Boswell and Lt. Governor Kelly Boswell as our guest.
The following members were in attendance:
Minutes of the May 11, 2013 Meeting: Motion to approve the minutes as circulated was made by Carolyn Richar and seconded by Brian Bell. Motion passed.
Treasurer Report: Marion Allen presented the Treasurer’s report which was circulated to the Board. Current assets of 10, 470.60, Investments of $724, 476.77 (market value), Total assets of $734, 947.37. The complete treasurer’s report is made a permanent part of the minutes. Charles Adams moved to accept the report. Second by Stan Miller. Motion passed.
Life Membership: Secretary Charles Adams reported that we have 3 new life members since the last meeting.
Caring Corner: Ron Reynolds is currently running the Caring Corner and is not available to make a report.
Ducky Derby: Bob Cassada reported that Brian Bell donated a gift card from Panera Bread. All prizes should be given to Bob Cassada. There are currently 17 prizes on hand.
Founder’s Society- Jackie Lowe reported that she is trying to get more members.
Finance Committee – Stan Miller reported that a $25,000 CD is coming due in September and the committee recommends rolling it over for 1 year. Motion passed.

CKI Budget Request for 2013-2014
Nominating Committee- Joe Maranto reported that the Committee met on May 4, 2013 and recommends the following slate of Officers for 2013-2014:
President’s Comments: H.L. Marks
President Marks shared the Thank You letter from Kelly Griffith, NoVA Lt. Governor 2013-204, for her scholarship.
H. L. Marks reported the following accomplishments for 2012-2013:
President Marks thanked Marion Allen, Stan Miller , Bob Cassada and Charlie Adams for their hard work.
In his opinion, we should consider two term limits for Directors. This would bring new members with fresh ideas to the Board. Also, go to a one year term as President. This would give more Directors the opportunity to serve as President.
President Marks is hoping by next term we have decided how to best spend our money.
